In the case of a tank-type calcining furnace, the heat transfer method is indirect
heating, where the heat from the flue gases in the flue is conducted through the refractory bricks that form the wall of the flue to the material being roasted. The main masonry material of the furnace body is silica brick, which has a high thermal conductivity suitable for this type of indirectly heated calcining furnace. Additionally, silica bricks have a high refractoriness under load, allowing them to withstand the impact and wear from the high-temperature materials against the tank walls. Therefore, silica bricks are ideal refractory materials for constructing tank-type calcining furnaces.
